An Old Friend & A Tailgate

I wanted to post earlier this weekend, but I’ve been completely busy!  Just as I was leaving work Friday, I heard from an old friend who I hadn’t seen in many, many years.  He came by the house and hung out, which was nice, but I ended up staying up later and drinking a bit more wine than I had intended.  On Saturday we had a big tailgate before the A’s game, and we started prepping the food immediately after getting up that morning.  One of our tailgate guests has celiac disease, so all the non-meat items were vegan AND gluten free.  I was so exhausted this morning that I decided to stay in and do as little as possible.  I did manage to get to the gym, at least…

Friday, 8/19/11

breakfast:  grits with almond milk and nutritional yeast
AM snack:  banana, coffee w/ vanilla soy creamer
lunch:  Sang Choy Bow (Chinese mushroom lettuce wraps), stir-fried green beans & broccoli made with 3/4 tsp coconut oil, 3/4 tsp hoisin and 1 Tbs chopped walnuts, 1/2 cup edamame in the pods
PM snack:  1 1/2 servings Jalapeno Pop Chips, peach
dinner:  Milanese tomato soup, gooey grilled cheese sandwich on Rudi’s whole wheat bread, 2 persian cucumbers
after dinner:  16 oz red wine, 12 oz light beer, slice whole wheat bread

Weekly points used:  19

Saturday, 8/20/11

breakfast:  smoothie (banana, blueberries, almond milk, hemp protein powder, 2 scoops Amazing Grass chocolate superfood, coffee with almond milk
lunch:  Milanese tomato soup, gooey grilled cheese sandwich on Rudi’s whole wheat bread
tailgate, baseball game & after:  20 tortilla chips with salsa and 2 Tbs guacamole, portobello mushrooms tacos, Mexican rice salad, 2 persian cucumbers, 2 gluten free white chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies, 40 oz light beer, 36 oz MGD 64, 1 1/2 servings Jalapeno Pop Chips, 2 oz red wine

(I know that seems like a whole lot of beer…it was a loooong day.)

Sunday, 8/21/11

Slept in and skipped breakfast.
lunch:  Milanese tomato soup, gooey grilled cheez on whole wheat bread
PM snack:  half a cantaloupe, 1 Tbs peanut butter
PM snack 2:  Peanut Butter Pretzel Clif Mojo Bar
dinner:  Mexican rice salad over lettuce with salsa and 1 tsp walnut oil, 8 tortilla chips

Exercise:  60 minutes elliptical

Daily points used:  28
Activity points earned:  5

I’ve been meaning to write a more in-depth post on the Points Plus system, how it works and how I use it.  Will hopefully get to that tomorrow!
